Ever since I was a little girl, I was fascinated by two things.
The first was space. The second was coral reefs.
My mother had friends all over the world. My mother’s friends would feed me facts and photos and books about space and coral reefs. And in these reports, there are events about both space and coral reefs.
I will describe a very interesting article about a coral reef that scientists found.
It is 300 years old. It is still alive. But climate change in the ocean is slowly killing it. Scientists were searching the Pacific Ocean and at first they mistook it for a sunken ship. It is bigger than a blue whale. There is a meeting on climate change at the UN right now. Small countries are worried about the future of coral reefs.
All around nearby reefs are dying due to warming waters, this ancient coral still lives. It offers scientists hope for studying resilience in marine ecosystems.
In the article, one thing in LEVEL 1, LEVEL 2, LEVEL3 is written in three nice ways:
Scientists found the largest single coral ever recorded in the southwest Pacific Ocean.
Scientists find the biggest coral ever. It is in the Pacific Ocean. The coral is 34 meters long, bigger than a blue whale.
The largest coral ever recorded has been found in the southwest Pacific Ocean.
Hi, I’ve chosen an article bringing an interesting story about lion that loomed in a housle in India. Local residents were very scared of him and they were trying to escape from it, unluckily one of the residents felt down as he was clambering a wall. That action unfortunately attracted lion’s attention and it attacted him. It is sure that lion was as scared of the people as they were of him. That fact led it inside of one of indian huts in a village and it hid there. No one else was injured.
I have read the news, how horses can read emotions. It was very interesting. Scientists showed horses photos of human faces, which were happy and angry and they expected, how horses will be react and monitored horses heart beat. When they showed them the photos of angry faces , the rates of horses heart beat rised significantly. When you are happy and relaxed, horses are happy and relaxed too, when you haven’t a great day, horses will help you.
I chose the article “A mysterious golden object in the ocean”. The article reports on the discovery of golden objects, probably the eggs of an unknown sea animal. The discovery was made at a depth of more than 3.5 km under the sea. The scientists, with the help of a remote-controlled submarine, decided to pick up the objects and examine them in the laboratory.
There is very interesting news! I have loved the trains since my childhood. So, I have chosen an article about trans – Train at your door. In Hanoi, there is a narrow street, where the train goes twice a day. Only centimetres separate train and houses, it is very dangerous. The people must be careful, and they usually hide, that there have been the accidents in past.
Commuter – the person who travels to the work.
Get the nod – get permission to do something.
Very interesting it an article about Powdered beer. I have thought in first moment, that it is April fool 🙂
I have read very interesting article about chances of prisoneres to return to normal life. This rates are known also in Czech republic. An expert public points out an ineffectiveness of system, in which is the prisoner principally punished, but not re-educated.
The phrases
-However, they are less likely to get rearrested if they get education and life support during and after prison
-businesses are willing to hire past prisoners
-Norway uses restorative justice and rehabilitation with job training and mental health support.
I have read news about new robot.
It is very interesting news, I was very surprise that people could invent and create such a big helper.
I notice the sentence: “The robot also has an ingress protection rating of 7, which basically means that it has the second highest level of protection against the intrusion of solid objects, so it is pretty indestructible.”
It was very dificult to translate it for me, because I didn’t know a few words. I was interested in order words, which is defferent from Czech sentences.
That’s a very interesting sentence. The word order is different in Czech and English and that can be very confusing. Great job.
I have chosen the news about dog, called Dogs help people.
The main hero is a two-year-old Labrador, Parks, he is the first facility dog in a children’s hospital in Orlando. He helps patients to open door or pick up things, dogs help with rehab. The organization Canine Companions has 475 dogs, there of 70 in hospital. It is necessary to train pups, training takes 2 months.
Phrase:
Make a big difference
Facility dog
He brightens the days
That’s such a nice piece of news! What a great way to help patients in hospitals.
Are 70 of the dogs in one hospital? 😮
I have read news about the very actualy situation in Ukraine. The article is about the attack of Russia to Ukraine and about the possible migration about 5 million refugees to the neighbouring countries like Slowakia and Polen. And also about the threat the war in Europa, about sankcions from the all world and about the danger of nuclear war.
The phrases and words:
– A series of air strikes hit airports across the country.
-The highways leaving the capital city of Kyiv were jammed as people tried to leave.
– Hundreds of thousand of refugees have fled Ukraine
– key European countries
– to remove selected Russian banks from
– the Swift international payments system
– the EU has imposed economic sanctions on Russia
– to put the country’s nuclear forces on high alert
I have read the article about a new star.
I am trying to remember the following connections:
A student spotted the object through a telescope in Western Australia in 2018. This neutron star unleshead huge bursts of energy every 20 minutes. A neutron star is small and collapsed from a huge
star that exploded as supernova. A neutron star is highly magnetized and spins relatively slowly.
That’s some really interesting news Vera, good job.
I have read unactual one year old affair about a popular two weeks tennis tournament in Australia
Mmore than 1,200 people who took part in the tournament had to keep strict quarantine rules.
During preparation on tournament there were isolatet 72 players in theyr hotel rooms, because they traveled in a plane with covid positive people.
These players could leave their rooms only for five hours to train and get medical care.
Some players felt disadvantaged, they needed more time for training.
I read the news called “Abba is back”.
I noticed these phrases:
The band announced that they would release the album Voyage on November 5th.
There will be a special concert in London, England, where holograms of the artists will sing alongside a live band.
Digital versions of themselves will appear nightly alongside a 10-piece live band at a new 3.000-capacity venue in east London called the Abba Arena.
Fans will also be able to see a documentary – style film on the band’s comeback.
Great job Lenka, you used some really nice phrases.
I have read news about winter swimmers.
In the beginning of 2020 hundreds of hardy swimmers braved the freezing waters of the Vltava River in Praque, Czech Republic in honor of winter swimming pioneer and promoter of the Spartan lifestyle, Alfred Nikodem. It was 75th swim of the annual event, the tradition has stayed alive every year.
What a wonderful tradition!
